We left Whidbey Island a few days ago with our sails set for North Carolina.

Getting off the ferry for the last time (until we come back, of course.)

It all happened so fast – at the end of May, a friend emailed me about a job at Epic Games in Cary, NC.  I went out for an interview, got the job, and gave my notice at Microsoft within a week. Now we’re sleeping at the KOA in Ellensberg, WA, night 1 of our cross country adventure to NC, and my trip back home.

The Ellensburg KOA may not be much to look at, but around 10pm, their giant red sign was a welcome sight.

Among the pros for me (aside from the job) is the opportunity to reconnect with the friends and family I left in NC over 10 years ago. Tiff also has family on the East Coast so visits will be much easier. But with this pro comes a major con –we had to leave our friends, old and new, in Seattle and the Island!

It was sad to leave Janae and Kelly at Turnco Wood Goods, the $7 movies at The Clyde theater, and the of course, the beach.

Possibly the best off-leash dog beach in Washington.

Thanks to everyone who made our time on this little island truly memorable.
