When we heard about a joint rally taking place on Whidbey Island, of course we asked if we could join in!
The Washington Unit, British Columbia Unit and North Cascades Unit all met up at the North Whidbey RV Park this past weekend for, what seemed like, a lot of Happy Hour enjoyment (our favorite kind). Undeterred by the rain, when the sun came out, so did the lawn chairs, the food and the drinks.
The most impressive part of the rally was the range of Airstreams — it was a smorgasbord of motorhomes,
and even an Interstate and a 34ft (which I don’t think I’ve ever seen before).
The RV park at North Whidbey is really nice too — we had great WiFi, the park was super clean and well taken care of and the people working there were super nice and helpful. It’s right across the street from Deception Pass State Park, which is handy as well. There’s no privacy between spots (as you can see) but for a rally it was perfect. They also get bonus points for having fire pits.
We really enjoyed meeting all the Canadians that traveled to the island and got some ideas for more stops north of the border. We were also invited to a few events at the Land Yacht Harbor, which we’ll try to hit during the summer.
Thanks to all the groups and the folks we met, especially Kirt and Shelley, and Cheryl and Sam for inviting us to camp out on their property, and to Doug and Debra for sharing their Alaksa info and introducing us to the ultimate urban assault vehicle.
