We couldn’t have asked for a better kick-off to the camping season than this past weekend at Ike Kinswa State Park!

Ike Kinswa State Park

The Hardersen’s invited us and Laura and Kevin to join their family (5 all together in two Airstreams, but more on that later), and since it’s about halfway between Portland and Seattle, it was a perfect location for all of us to meet up.

The park sits out in the water, so it’s easy to get to the lake from any spot to get out the kayak or to launch whatever copter Kevin has brought along.

The park is shaded —

and as we walked around, we didn’t really see any bad spots —

And there are enough trees to hang a hammock.

Big props to Deke for keeping the fire going for over 12 hours as well–

Besides getting to spend the weekend with friends, we also got to see our first Airstream — the 22′ International. Kyle was looking for a 22′ and after some searching he found one in Canada. Kathy sent me the listing for it and low and behold, it was our old one (it still has the WBCCI numbers on it). It was awesome to see it again!
